Here at our Lakeville and Prior Lake orthodontics practice, we love to meet new patients. If you’re visiting us for the first time, you may have questions about what will happen during your appointment.
Your first appointment includes a thorough examination and some discussion regarding possible treatment options.
This visit will take about an hour and will offer us insight into your orthodontic needs. We value your time, so to expedite treatment, we may also set aside time after your exam for diagnostic records. These records include X-rays, photos and impressions for study models, and they’re used when we develop your treatment plan. This additional appointment will last about an hour.
Determinations
During your initial examination, we will determine the following:
- Do you have a condition that can be corrected with orthodontic treatment?
- Whether treatment is called for now or should be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred.
- The treatment procedures that should be used to correct the problem.
- Whether any permanent teeth require removal.
- Estimated treatment time.
We also will share our payment options, and we hope you will ask questions if you have them.

Any panoramic X-rays that have been taken within the past six months.
If you have orthodontic insurance, bring your insurance card. Providing this information at the first visit enablesus to give you an estimate of your costs.
