Elastics are tiny rubber rings that ties the archwire into the bracket.

What are Hooks used for in Braces?
Hooks are a part of the brackets used to attach the elastics (rubber bands).

How do Coil Springs Work?
Coil Springs fit between the brackets and the archwire maintaining force from the brackets.
